Firstly, Turbines allow the helmet to rotate slightly on the head during impact, which reduces rotational acceleration to the head and brain – and secondly, each Turbine is made of an energy-absorbing material that absorbs low-speed impact energy. Both rotational and low-speed linear impact forces are associated with head injuries and concussion.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Turbines are designed to deform under impact, which dissipates crash energy that would otherwise be transmitted to the skull and brain. Their design means that they reduce forces in two directions.
ROTATIONAL PROTECTION
In a crash, the Turbines deform, allowing the helmet shell and inner lining to rotate relative to the head. This movement reduces the rotational acceleration transmitted to the head and brain, lessening the likelihood of head and brain injury.
IMPACT ABSORPTION
Turbines are made of a special impact-absorbing material that absorbs the linear forces associated with low-speed impacts, implicated in head and brain injuries.
