360° Turbine EVO Technology is the latest evolution of Leatt’s rotational and low-speed linear impact force protection system. Both of these forces are associated with head injuries and concussion.
The 360° Turbine EVO system works in two ways: Firstly, in the event of a crash, ReaFlex material in the Turbines absorbs low-speed impact energy, and secondly the optimised triple-density Turbines enable the helmet to rotate about the head, which reduces rotational acceleration to the head and brain. The co-moulded Full Flex center anchor allows for increased Turbine flexibility, and the low-friction sliding surface between the turbine and the helmet acts like a shear plane and further reduces the transmission of rotational forces.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Turbine EVOs are designed to deform under impact, which dissipates crash energy that would otherwise be transmitted to the skull and brain. Their design means that they reduce forces in two directions.
IMPACT ABSORPTION
Every Turbine EVO is made with ReaFlex impact gel, which remains flexible when riding. During a crash, however, it hardens instantly upon impact to absorb low-speed linear impact forces which are implicated in head and brain injuries.
ROTATIONAL PROTECTION
In a crash, the Turbine EVOs deform, allowing the helmet shell and inner lining to rotate relative to the head. This movement reduces the rotational acceleration transmitted to the head and brain, lessening the likelihood of head and brain injury.
FULL FLEX CENTER ANCHOR
The co-molded Full Flex center anchor is designed to allow greater flexibility in the Turbine EVO compared to the Turbine. This allows it to absorb more rotational energy, which is a cause of head and brain injury and concussion.
